Mother's Day

I bought Kelly a book for her first "pre" mother's day called "I Was a Really Good Mom Before I Had Kids". And I really think there is some truth in that! During your pregnancy you are catering to the every wish and desire of that little baby. French fries craving? Sure! Dessert with every meal? No problem! Your 100% focus is on making your body a haven (okay, maybe french fries and dessert aren't the best thing to make it a haven, but whatever), to be sure that baby grows and develops so he/she can enter this world ready to take that first breath.
And then it all goes downhill from there. From then on you are challenged on every decision you make (breast or bottle feed, when do you start solid foods, do you vaccinate or not, daycare, nanny, stay at home). You go from providing anything your baby desires to saying "no" a lot (a lot). And all these choices are made in their best interest, in your best interest, in the best interest of your family. But it is hard. Every single day is hard. Every single decision is hard. Being a mother is hard. And you never really get it until you step into those shoes.
This is to all the moms, especially mine (and Chris'), out there. Thanks for all you did, all you do. Because no matter how old I get, I'm always going to go back to you (no matter how far away you are). You did, and you do, do a good, a great, job.
