Merry Christmas...One Month Old...and a New Year in Iowa

Whew! The end of December was an eventful one for James. First, we took our first road trip to Kansas. He did fantastic in the car, and only got fussy the last hour and a half. At that point, we were all a little fussy, but when Chris and I cry it doesn't seem to have the same effect. We spent a few days in Valley Falls to celebrate Christmas with the Coleman side of the family before heading in to Kansas City on Christmas Eve for the rest of the week. James got to meet all of his great-grandparents and aunt and uncles (except for Scott who had to work and was unable to make the trip up to Kansas), as well as most of the rest of the extended family. He also met his new best friend Brooks (at only a month of age, I get to determine who is best friend is, and it is only natural that it would be my best friend's son)! We rounded out our trip with an unexpected stay in LeClaire, Iowa on New Year's Eve. We hit a huge snow storm through northern Missouri, which tracked up through Iowa as well, and we just didn't feel that it was safe to continue all the way home due to the road conditions. So we got a hotel room along the Mississippi river (a first for both James and Sydney) and rang in the new year in Iowa!
